Freesat is also a free to air service very similar to Freeview. The most important difference is that you need a satellite dish instead of an aerial to receive tis service.
If you had SkyHD or SkyQ you can use that satellite dish to view Freesat. In fact if you had SkyHD you don't have to do anything your old Sky box will pick up all the free to air channels even after your contract with Sky has finished.
If you had SkyQ you need to change The LnB on the end of the dish as the one is for Sky Q is unique to that service here in the UK. I can help with that.
Astra2 28.2 is the actual satellite orientation for Freesat and Sky. This Satellite carries a lot more channels then your normal Freesat will show you. Chinese, south asian, arab, japanese and north african channels. For a complete list click here.
Sky HD and Sky Q are the only 2 UK subscription services. Sky HD ideally needs cables run from the dish into your property if you want to be able to record otherwise 1 is fine. You will need a cable or 2 to any Sky box you want in the house. If you are not happy with the way the Sky Engineer has run the cable or placed the dish or his proposal to do so give me a ring! Sky Q is similar, again you idealy want to run 2 cables but even 1 is enough for recording but limites the amount of extra boxes you can connect. With SkyQ you only need 2 cables to 1 point and can then add extra boxes without extra cabling. The boxes either communicate directly with one another or use your houses Wifi. This can be a problem in bigger properties. Give me a ring if you are having problems.
Hotbird is typically used for Italian and Polish TV, Hellas Sat is usually used for Greek or Rumanian TV, Turksat is used for arab and Turkish TV, Astra 1 for French and German TV, Astra 3 for a mix of European TV. Click on the Satellite names for full channel lists!
